Learn the Violin with Giuseppe Calabrese
I want to inspire you to learn the Violin! There is no greater reward than sharing my knowledge and hearing you say you’ve learned the violin with Giuseppe — that ‘Italian Violin Teacher’. My Online violin lessons for adult learners are fun, engaging, and guaranteed to help you progress.
About Me: Founder of Il Violinista
My name is Giuseppe Calabrese, and I’m the founder of Il Violinista Online Violin Academy. Over the years, I’ve taught thousands of students around the world. With the same care and dedication, I will help you become a true Violinista (Italian for Violinist). Along the way, you might even pick up a little Italian — it’s inevitable!
My Musical Journey
I began my musical path on the piano at age five and took up the violin at nine. I still remember the indescribable excitement of holding a violin for the first time. My training was rigorous and deeply classical under the likes of award winner Maestro Antonio de Secondi, 12 years of advanced education and examinations at conservatoriums across central Italy, covering violin, orchestra, solfeggio, music history, harmony, piano, singing, and more culminating with a Degree from the Conservatory of Pescara in Italy. As a concert performer I have been playing under the direction of famous musicians & sountrack composers such as Martinolli, Gaslini and Pedrali.
Since then, I’ve taught students in Europe (Rome and Porto) and Australia (Sydney), both in physical music schools and online. My approach consistently helps learners of all levels succeed with students regularly achieving ‘A’ scores in recognized state music examinations. Each lesson is combined with technical training, fundamental music theory, creative play, sight-reading and aural development, which provides a solid foundation for every student wanting to learn music.
Beyond Music: A Blend of Art and Science
In addition to music, I am an award winning registered architect whose creativity spans sound and space. I hold a PhD in Engineering, Earth, and Planetary Sciences (2025) Robotic Construction for Moon/Mars Habitats (TUDelft/IRSPS) with several scientific publications. I’m currently pursuing a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Climate Resilient Architecture (UPT Porto) . My work reflects a passion for blending artistic expression with scientific inquiry — and I bring this same precision and creativity to teaching violin.
How Can I help?
As an experienced violin maestro, I share all my knowledge with you, whether we focus on playing for fun or preparing for examinations. With each lesson, you’ll absorb and retain skills efficiently.
Structured Learning That Works
Next, my goal is for you to progress with every exercise, building both skill and passion. You’ll notice your abilities grow, trusting the process even when challenges arise. Avoid wasting time on endless nursery rhymes taught by unqualified instructors — your tone, expression, and confidence will improve year by year.
Bring Your Music to Life
Imagine making your violin sing, cry, or convey the passion of a tango piece. There’s a huge difference between simply moving the bow and creating music that truly moves the listener. This is what you will learn with my guidance.
Real Progress, Month by Month
Then, with my support, you’ll gain confidence, refine technique, and enjoy tangible progress every month. Your growth — not my praise — is my greatest reward.
I look forward to welcoming you among my students and sharing the joy of learning the violin together.
A presto! (See you soon!)
